Team America Rocketry ChallengeThe Plains, VA
The Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) is the world's largest rocket contest, sponsored by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and the National Association of Rocketry (NAR). It was created in the fall of 2002 as a one-time celebration of the Centennial of Flight, but the enthusiasm about the event was so great that AIA and NAR were asked to hold the contest annually.

Participating in the ILA Berlin International Air Show 2010
Making the business case for AIA Member Suppliers
The ILA Berlin International Air show is the oldest aerospace show in the world. The show was honored by having the Wright brothers as the first North American exhibitor at its inaugural show in 1909.
The ILA Berlin International Air show takes place June 8-13, 2010. The show takes place at the Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport in Berlin, Germany
The show is now an international favorite as it is located in the center of Europe and at the crossroads linking Western, Central and Eastern Europe. In 2010, the Partner Country for the show is Switzerland. ILA attracts large numbers of military and civil delegations including NATO Ambassadors and the staffs.
Benefits of Participation.
The Exchange Rate. Perhaps the most important benefits for aerospace suppliers is the current exchange rate between the Euro and the U.S. dollar. Currently a Euro trades at US $1.37 and may well go higher in the months ahead. To the European OEMs and 1st Tier integrators who must pay for labor in Euros but sell most finished products in dollars, this is a major disadvantage. Many European OEMs are following suit and are actively seeking North American suppliers, outsourcing all or part of their manufacturing or relocating operations to so-called “low-cost” regions – like the U.S.
The International Suppliers Center. The Berlin Air Show has created the International Suppliers Center (ISC) that brings suppliers and OEMs together for a three-days (June 8-10) of no-nonsense match-making with the highlight being “Buyers Day” on June 9th. A partial list of OEMs and first tier companies is attached. Soon to be added to the list are several major North American companies. Currently there are 250 suppliers from 16 countries signed up for the event – 60% more than in 2008 -- with more being added each day. Booth space is still available, reasonably priced and the event is strictly B2B.
German Military Consolidated Procurement Office (BWB). As a special benefit to North American exhibitors, BWB has agreed to a scheduled meeting with each North American supplier who exhibits at ILA and completes a brief “Supplier Profile” (see http://intl-aero.net/profile.aspx). BWB represents all branches of the military and purchases everything from paper clips to fighter aircraft. BWB will assess the exhibitors offerings and even if there is not an immediate need for the products or services, BWB will retain the company information for future RFPs. Germany’s military is the largest in Western Europe.
AIA Member Discount. All suppliers who are AIA members will receive an immediate 10% discount regardless of the size or location of their exhibit booth. To obtain additional information and to sign up about ILA 2010, please go to http://intl-aero.net/ila.html or call Carl Williams at 916-394-9179. For more information, see the ISC brochure and a price sheet. See you in Berlin!
