“I have had close ties to Hispanic/Latinx culture from a very young age and have come to love and deeply appreciate the vibrancy, openness and warmth the culture has to offer. You might say my passion for the culture led me to my wife who was born and raised in Mexico. In my home, we enjoy and celebrate the differences that various cultures bring to our everyday lives.
In my experience, there is no better way to embrace a different culture than to learn more about it and to celebrate it. As we continue to live in uneasy and uncertain times due to a pandemic that has drastically affected our economy and personal lives, and as our country continues to fight racism and social injustices, we must find creative solutions to overcome and appreciate our differences. This requires listening, approaching each other with an open mind and working to build an understanding of one another.”
