Arlington, Va. — The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) is expanding its Legislative Affairs team, hiring Katarina DeFilippo and Scott Harris as Managers. In this role, DeFilippo and Harris will support AIA’s outreach and engagement with members of Congress and their staff.
“As aerospace and defense companies of all sizes continue to innovate and adapt through the COVID-19 pandemic, advocating for our more than 300 member companies and our industry’s more than 2 million employees has never been more important,” said AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning. “Katarina and Scott’s experience complements a strong and effective legislative affairs team and will help bolster our engagement with Congress to advance our industry’s leadership and global competitiveness.”
DeFilippo and Harris join AIA after serving on Capitol Hill. DeFilippo was a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Ron Estes (R-KS) where she primarily handled the congressman’s national security and transportation policy portfolio. While there, she gained extensive experience working with various aviation manufacturing companies to represent their interests in Washington.
Harris most recently served as a Legislative Correspondent/Aide for Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL). He handled a policy portfolio that, among other things, included science and technology, transportation and infrastructure, and telecommunications. Previously, Harris was a grassroots organizer for presidential, Senate, and congressional elections, recruiting and training teams of hundreds of volunteers across the country.
