Arlington, Va. (June 30, 2022) – Today, the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations passed bills from its Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies and its Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, and Related Agencies this week:
“The innovations and technologies designed and deployed by the U.S. aerospace and defense (A&D) industry enable and empower modern life. Developing a proper policy framework aligned with federal investments and incentives can help propel these advancements even further. Annual appropriations legislation provides us a unique opportunity to do just that.
“We applaud the House Appropriations Committee for its consistent and strong support of FAA and NASA programs. These programs invest in the next generation of technologies necessary for space exploration and commercialization and help ensure our aerospace system is the safest, most innovative in the world. We urge both chambers to continue their work to move the annual appropriations process through regular order, prioritize strategic investments rather than one-time spending, and avoid a costly continuing resolution at the end of the fiscal year.”
