Arlington, Va. (July 18, 2023) – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today commented on the House Appropriations Committee mark of the Fiscal Year 2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies appropriations bill, which funds the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) among other federal programs. The measure was approved by the committee this evening:
“As the House makes progress on the FAA reauthorization bill, it’s encouraging to see forward momentum on annual funding for the FAA as well. Strong policy to modernize the FAA and keep America on the cutting edge of aviation safety and technology must be matched by sufficient, targeted investment,” Fanning said.
“The Aerospace Industries Association appreciates the House Appropriations Committee’s work — and the leadership of Chairwoman Granger, Ranking Member DeLauro, Subcommittee Chairman Cole, and Subcommittee Ranking Member Quigley — to ensure the FAA remains the global gold standard for aviation, but we have significant concerns about cuts made to critical programs that will maintain U. S. leadership in sustainability, including the Continuous Lower Emissions, Energy and Noise (CLEEN) program and the Aviation Sustainability Center of Excellence (ASCENT). As this legislation continues through the process, we will advocate to maintain adequate funding for these vital and longstanding programs.”
