On August 28, 2023, the Aerospace Industries Association sent a letter to the Departments of Commerce and Defense supporting the Titanium Sponge Working Group (TSWG) report and recommendations and promoting ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of titanium sponge. In the letter, AIA highlights our historical support for the establishment of an interagency working group and the inclusion of a titanium sponge in our critical minerals white paper. AIA also commends the working group’s recommendations to stockpile material, remove the 15 percent ad velorum duty on titanium sponge, and reaffirm Japan’s role as a longstanding supplier of titanium sponge.
