Arlington, Va. (Sept. 5, 2023) – Eric Fanning, Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO, today released the following statement encouraging President Joe Biden to nominate a qualified candidate to serve as administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):
“The Federal Aviation Administration has been without permanent leadership for over 500 days — to the detriment of the flying public, American equipment manufacturers and suppliers including the Aerospace Industries Association’s more than 320 member companies, and America’s global leadership in aviation. While the acting role has been filled with capable individuals, there is no substitute for Senate-confirmed leadership to lead this critical safety agency, accelerate key modernization efforts, and oversee the integration of new and innovative technologies.
“As the Senate returns from August work period, we urge President Biden to prioritize nominating a confirmable candidate and the Senate to act swiftly when the nomination is received.”
