Arlington, Va. (October 30, 2023) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement on the Biden Administration’s new Executive Order regarding artificial intelligence (AI):
“The Aerospace Industries Association welcomes the Biden Administration’s focus on artificial intelligence and is closely assessing its new Executive Order,” Fanning said. “AI is a game-changer, and the United States must cement its role as the leader and standard-setter for this technology – especially when it comes to data, people, and hardware.
“In particular, we appreciate the Administration’s goal of developing a National Security Memorandum, which we hope to see address the very real national security implications of this technology but not stifle innovation. We look forward to being a partner with the government as this Executive Order is implemented.”
In September, Fanning was one of 22 experts who testified at the first-ever Senate AI Insight Forum, led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). At the same time, AIA released initial recommendations to support a more competitive regulatory and trade environment for emerging technologies such as AI.
