Arlington, Va. (Nov. 13, 2023) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today commented on ongoing congressional efforts to fund the federal government:
“We are already a month and a half past the real fiscal year deadline. The impact of this current CR is already being felt, and another CR will increase the consequences. It is better than a shutdown, which is immediate and acute,” Fanning said. “With growing global instability, increasing demands being placed on the industrial base, and economic headwinds complicating both, our leaders should be laser-focused on fulfilling their constitutional duty to fund the government, and we look forward to continuing to work with Congress to achieve this goal.”
In September, AIA sent a letter to congressional leadership urging Congress to “put the economic well-being and security of this country first” by preventing a government shutdown. Fanning also appeared on CNBC to discuss how shutdowns and continuing resolutions uniquely impact the aerospace and defense industry.
