Arlington, Va. (February 8, 2024) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement after the Senate Commerce Committee advanced legislation to authorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the next five years.
“All Americans benefit from the FAA’s critical work, but FAA reauthorization is especially important now, when air travel is surpassing pre-pandemic levels, new and emerging technologies are coming to market, and a newly appointed administrator has taken the helm. This vote demonstrates the strong bipartisan support for maintaining the gold standard of safety, unleashing innovation, and strengthening our position as global leaders in aviation,” Fanning said. “The Aerospace Industries Association is grateful to Chair Cantwell and Ranking Member Cruz for their leadership, and the entire Senate Commerce Committee for their commitment to authorizing the FAA. We look forward to seeing this legislation continue to move through the bicameral process.”
