Arlington, Va. (April 19, 2024) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today urged the U.S. House of Representatives to pass a package of national security supplemental funding bills, which invest nearly $60 billion in the U.S. defense industrial base.
“In an era of escalating global threats, the supplemental funding for Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific is not just an investment in global stability, but also the American defense industrial base,” Fanning said. “The majority of these funds stay within our own borders, backfilling U.S. stocks with the newest technology, bolstering our economy, and reinforcing the bedrock of our national security. This is a strategic infusion of resources that will expand our production capacity, support high-quality American jobs, and ensure that the U.S. military remains the most capable and best-equipped force in the world.
“By supporting these bills, Congress will reinforce their commitment to a future where American innovation and strength continue to lead the way in an increasingly complex world. The Aerospace Industries Association strongly urges the House to vote yes on all three supplementals.”
At the beginning of April, Fanning sent a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) urging him to bring the Senate-passed supplemental to the House floor. AIA has consistently pushed Congress to act on supplemental funding to shore up the defense industrial base and strengthen national security since President Biden made the request in October 2023.
