London – Six U.S. Senators, led by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), today joined Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning to open the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow by highlighting the importance of the U.S. aerospace and defense industry to American competitiveness and national security.

“American innovation is front and center here at the Farnborough International Airshow,” Fanning said. “Our strong relationship with Congress and our other government partners underpins not just our presence here in London, but everything we do: advancing deterrence and international stability, propelling American leadership in aerospace technology and safety, and creating an environment that allows us to conduct business globally and domestically. The Aerospace Industries Association is honored to join the Senate delegation to spotlight the collective achievements of American ingenuity on the world stage.”

Participants from the Senate Congressional Delegation, or CODEL, included: Sen. Shaheen; Sen. Moran; Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.), Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), and Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.).

“I’m proud to be co-leading this bipartisan delegation in support of U.S. businesses and suppliers as they showcase innovative, state of the art technologies on the world stage at the Farnborough Air Show. My home state of New Hampshire hosts a robust aerospace, technology and manufacturing sector and the Air Show provides a unique opportunity for them to connect with global industry leaders,” said Sen. Shaheen, a senior member of the U.S. Senate Armed Forces Committee and Chair of the U.S. Senate Small Business Committee. “Strengthening our defense and safeguarding our national security must remain a bipartisan priority, which is why our Congressional delegation here has been so crucial to reaffirming our shared commitment to supporting global markets and ensuring America stands safe and secure for generations to come.”

“Kansas is at the forefront of aerospace innovation and manufacturing, and I look forward to showcasing our capabilities at this year’s Farnborough Airshow,” said Sen. Moran. “I am pleased to co-lead a bipartisan delegation with Sen. Shaheen to Farnborough where we will meet with government, industry and defense leaders from across the globe. Our nation’s economy and national security requires a strong aviation and aerospace industry.”
