Voice of an Industry

For over 100 years, the American aerospace and defense industry has shaped the world around us. From the first flight to the moon landing, the impact of A&D is immeasurable. And the next great aerospace achievement is on the horizon. We are critical to the health of the U.S. economy and serve as a seamless, fundamental part of daily life. Now more than ever, it’s vital that our collective industry has a strong voice speaking on its behalf.

The Aerospace Industries Association has been that voice since 1919. Our work as an advocate and leader is essential to shaping policy, shedding light on the industry’s impact, and fortifying its future.

Together, our advocacy influences:

  • Effective federal investments
  • Accelerated deployment of innovative technologies
  • Policies that enhance our global competitiveness
  • Recruitment and retention efforts that support a capable and diverse 21st century workforce

A Clear Vision

AIA is dedicated to helping our united membership improve the safety of air transportation, make America more secure, fuel exploration, drive innovation, and ensure a vibrant industrial base.

Leaders Behind AIA

CEO-level officers from across our more than 300 member companies guide these efforts, strengthening the industry’s ability to enable America’s national security and economy. We work with member company representatives through councils and committees to advise the government on critical issues and cultivate a unified perspective on the many challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Ethics and Transparency

In 2010, AIA partnered with ASD to establish the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct (IFBEC). IFBEC is composed of companies committed to promoting business ethics and compliance in the aerospace and defense industry. Its mission is to advance the IFBEC Global Principles, which set industry-wide ethical standards for companies operating in the aerospace and defense sector. These standards include best practices for anti-corruption efforts, the use of advisors, conflict of interest management, and the protection of proprietary information.

AIA members can apply for membership to join IFBEC, which promotes the exchange of information on ethics and compliance and offers educational webinars on current industry topics and best practices. IFBEC also hosts an in-person annual conference, bringing together industry representatives, government officials, and non-governmental organizations for high-level international discussions and networking opportunities.
