Arlington, Va. – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today applauded Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) for introducing the STRATEGIC Minerals Act.

“Securing reliable access to critical minerals through both domestic production and international trade with allies is essential to counter U.S. reliance on sourcing from adversaries,” AIA Vice President of International Affairs Dak Hardwick said. “From next-generation aircraft to hypersonic weapons, these minerals power equipment that support our national security objectives to defend our nation, keep the flying public safe, and keep the aerospace and defense sector innovating. AIA appreciates Senators Young, Coons, Cornyn, and Hickenlooper for their leadership to secure these critical minerals, and we look forward to seeing this bill advance through Congress.”

In April, AIA released a document highlighting the need to secure the aerospace and defense critical minerals supply chain.
