Arlington, Va. – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today applauded President Trump’s Executive Order directing the Secretary of Defense to submit a plan to reform the defense acquisition system and review Major Defense Acquisition Programs.
“Amid a threat environment that demands we move fast and increase capacity, the Aerospace Industries Association welcomes the Trump Administration’s commitment to revitalizing the Pentagon’s acquisition process,” Fanning said. “Our members manufacture mission-critical systems and transformational capabilities that are an effective deterrent against our adversaries, and we should take every step we can to get them into the hands of the warfighter faster.
“At the same time, the aerospace and defense industry shares this administration’s priority of ensuring we maximize the value of every American taxpayer dollar spent on this equipment. As these reviews progress, we look forward to working with the administration to make much-needed improvements that will optimize the system for all stakeholders, and we urge them to avoid overly lengthy reviews that could delay equipping our troops.”
