Arlington, Va. – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today issued the following statement after the House Committee on Appropriations released its Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bill for fiscal year 2025:

“The Aerospace Industries Association thanks Subcommittee Chairman Rogers and Subcommittee Ranking Member Cartwright for investing in critical space programs at NASA and NOAA in this year’s Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill, as well as Chairman Cole, Ranking Member DeLauro, and the full committee for acting quickly to advance this legislation through the process.

“While we appreciate the committee’s efforts, we are disappointed to see that NASA’s budget is cut below the President’s budget request. Rather than continuing a growth trajectory that keeps pace with inflation, the committee missed important opportunities to extend America’s leadership in space exploration and scientific discovery by reducing funding for key initiatives in STEM. We will continue to work with appropriators as this bill moves through the process to ensure NASA and NOAA have the resources needed to continue their ground-breaking work.”
