Arlington, Va. (March 28, 2022) – Today, the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning issued the following statement outlining AIA’s defense priorities in President Biden’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget:
“With the Russian invasion of Ukraine and other looming security threats, the need for strong investment in America’s defense and deterrence capabilities is only growing.
“Now that the Administration outlined its budget, it is the ideal time to underscore that national security, and the innovation and defense industrial base that sustains, is a unique and enduring responsibility. We must think about the defense budgets as a strategic investment rather than just one-time spending, which too often leads to a series of trade-offs that undermine our overall security.
“Funding our national security priorities is completely within our control – and strong investment in defense sends a powerful signal to allies and adversaries alike that defending Americans’ security is a key U.S. priority.”
