Arlington, Va. (Dec. 20, 2022) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today issued the following statement on the fiscal year 2023 full-year government funding bill released this morning:
“We are glad to see Congress come to bipartisan agreement on a full-year government funding bill, breaking, at least for now, a cycle of harmful and disruptive continuing resolutions. America’s national and economic security is an enduring responsibility that requires adequate, stable, and predictable funding. In particular, we welcome the strong investment in national defense — which is critical to ensuring our defense industrial base can support and equip our warfighters. While we will continue to review the legislation, we recognize that full-year funding is an important step forward and urge Congress to support the bill and President Biden to sign it without delay.”
Last week, Fanning sent a letter to Congress describing the adverse effects that short-term government funding bills, known as continuing resolutions, have on government operations, including national security, aviation safety programs, and critical space programs.
