Arlington, Va. (Oct. 27, 2022) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today issued the following statement on the release of the Biden Administration’s unclassified National Defense Strategy:
“The aerospace and defense industry is one of the Department of Defense’s most important partners in achieving the goals of the National Defense Strategy — and one of America’s greatest asymmetric advantages over our adversaries.
“The updated National Defense Strategy makes it clear that the magnitude of threats facing our country, and the capabilities our forces need to deter these threats, is growing. The headwinds — unpredictable budgets, growing regulatory burdens, workforce shortages, and record-high inflation — are working against us, even as we work to protect our military advantage over China and restore peace and stability in Europe.
“Our industry remains committed to keeping America safe, secure, and prosperous. We encourage the Biden Administration and Congress to provide timely funding that matches the strategy, to reform our acquisition system for speed and innovation, and to implement tax, regulatory, and trade policies that keep our companies and workforce strong.”
