Arlington, Va. (July 7, 2022) – Today, the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning issued the following statement on the Biden Administration’s nomination of Phillip Washington to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):
“Safety has always been the guiding light of the aviation industry, and the FAA and its leadership play a critical role in ensuring air travel continues to be the safest mode of transportation. Having a leader at the helm of the FAA who shares our commitment to ensuring U.S. aerospace systems continues to set the gold standard for safety worldwide is essential. At the same time, integrating emerging technologies safely into the national aerospace system, while also supporting our industry as we deliver on our sustainability goals is vital as well.
“We urge the Senate swiftly confirm Phillip Washington so we can continue to enable and enhance American leadership in aviation safety in partnership with our aviation manufacturers and airline customers.”
