Arlington, Va. – A coalition of aerospace and defense supply chain companies sent a letter to President Joe Biden on Friday urging continued action from his administration to help put an end to the ongoing labor strike at The Boeing Company.

Ahead of a critical vote on Wednesday, the Aerospace Industries Association’s Supply Chain Policy and Advocacy Council emphasized that a “swift resolution is paramount” to their survival and to the country’s national and economic security.

“Because the aerospace supply chain is vast and interconnected, the ramifications of this strike extend beyond a single company, affecting countless suppliers across the nation,” the letter said. “Continued disruptions damage the resiliency of the supply chain, as well as the economies of communities that rely on these industries, impacting many of the 2.21 million Americans that work in the aerospace industry, with 60 percent of those jobs directly linked to the supply chain.

“Action from your Administration will assist in restoring stability to the aerospace industry and support the aerospace workforce who are essential to its success,” the letter continued. “The importance of the American aerospace and defense industry, of which The Boeing Company is a major part, to our country cannot be understated.”
