Arlington, Va. (June 11, 2024) – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the leading voice of America’s aerospace and defense industry, today announced that senior Capitol Hill veteran Nora Khalil has joined the organization as Vice President of Legislative Affairs.

In this role, Khalil will serve as AIA’s top liaison on Capitol Hill. This strategic addition underscores AIA’s commitment to advancing industry interests through robust legislative engagement.

“The Aerospace Industries Association is thrilled to welcome Nora Khalil aboard to lead our outreach on Capitol Hill,” said Eric Fanning, AIA President and CEO. “At this pivotal moment for innovation and deterrence, having a seasoned and strong voice like Nora to represent America’s aerospace and defense industry is crucial. Nora brings decades of experience and a critical skill set to our already exceptional leadership team. I know she’ll hit the ground running as Congress kicks off the annual appropriations and authorization markup cycle.”

Khalil joins AIA with more than two decades of experience in the private and public sectors, including tenures in Congress and the Executive Branch. Throughout her career, Khalil has focused on strategic external outreach, connecting Congress with key stakeholders to advance critical national security and legislative priorities. Most recently, Khalil was a professional staff member for the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee; she also served as the top Republican staffer on the Senate Appropriations Energy and Water Committee.

From 2017 to 2020, Khalil served as Associate Administrator for External Affairs at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Prior to that, she held similar roles at the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board and the Naval Reactors division of NNSA. Khalil began her career on Capitol Hill serving as Legislative Director for two House appropriators, former Rep. Ron Packard (R-Calif.), and Chairwoman Emerita Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas). Khalil is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University in California.
