Arlington, Va. (Sept. 8, 2021) — The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) is expanding its Communications Department with three new hires. Jon Corley, senior director, communication; Sue Perez, manager, digital assets; and Chancè Hindir-Lane, coordinator, communication and legislative affairs. They will help advocate for the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry’s priorities and tell the stories of how AIA’s member companies help keep America safe and secure while growing the nation’s economy.
“AIA member companies and the A&D industry make many incredible contributions to the nation’s security, economy, space programs, transportation sector, and development of cutting-edge technology,” said AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning. “I’m confident that the skills and diversity of perspectives and experiences that Jon, Sue, and Chancè bring to AIA will help us tell those stories in effective and meaningful ways.”
Jon Corley joins AIA from the American Chemistry Council (ACC) where he was a communication director serving as a senior advisor, strategist, and spokesperson for some of the chemical industry’s most challenging issues. Prior to ACC, he led U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry’s (R-TX) communication team, worked as a media relations manager at the Edison Electric Institute, and served as an infantry sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division where he deployed for two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Corley holds a M.A. in Political Communications from Johns Hopkins University, a B.A. in Public Relations from Lipscomb University, and is currently completing the General Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Sue Perez is AIA’s new manager of digital assets where she will help lead the development and execution of the organization’s digital engagement strategies. Sue has worked on multiple social media campaigns and strategies for Spoon University and the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water. In addition to her digital media experience, Sue volunteers for multiple nonprofit organizations, including the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Washington, DC.
Prior to joining AIA, Sue managed the Rees Scholarship Foundation at the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute, the leading trade association of manufacturers of air conditioning, heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment. She received a B.A. in Communication and a minor in Spanish and Sustainability from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is currently working on her M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership and Marketing Communications with the University of Denver.
Chancè Hindir-Lane was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo and moved to the U.S. at the age of 13. She holds an Associate Degree in International Relations from Utah State University and a B.A. in Political Science from The University of The District of Columbia. Before joining AIA, Chancè was an assessor program coordinator at the American Association of Blood Banks, and she worked for the National Energy Institute and spent some time working for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
