Arlington, Va. (Dec. 12, 2023) – In case you missed it, Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning joined CNBC’s Closing Bell Overtime today to speak about President Biden and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s joint press conference and the need for supplemental aid in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.
During the interview, Fanning detailed how industry has met the increased demand stemming from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as multiple threats across the globe. He noted that industry has repeatedly called for Congress and the Department of Defense to provide clear demand signals to the industrial base so it can build the capacity necessary to support short- and long-term national security objectives. Fanning underscored the need to pass a supplemental funding package to invest in that capacity and serve as a deterrent to U.S. adversaries.

In October, after President Biden submitted the supplemental request to Congress, AIA urged support for the package, saying this “decisive moment” required additional investment. Last week, AIA commended the first-ever joint United States – Ukraine defense industry conference as a step toward strengthening the American industrial base and bolstering the capabilities of our ally.
