Senior Vice President, Civil Systems Group, The Aerospace Corporation
James (Jim) M. Myers is senior vice president of Civil Systems Group (CSG), which operates in the national security interests of the United States and its allies to broaden the company’s business and technology base. CSG combines deep technical expertise with industry-leading innovation to help the U.S. government, allied governments, and commercial customers solve some of the world’s most complex systems engineering and integration challenges in high-consequence environments. In his role, Myers is responsible for contracts valued at almost $200 million annually. Key customers include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Energy, and a wide number of other civil, commercial, and international organizations, including allied space agencies and ministries of defense. Previously, Myers was vice president of Civil Systems Operations in CSG, where he managed the day-to-day operations of CSG’s lines of business, focusing on mission success and customer satisfaction and amplifying customers’ understanding of the role of the FFRDC in the civil space environment. Myers joined Aerospace in April 2021, bringing expertise honed over more than 30 years in the global security, information systems, aerospace, and defense industries.
Prior to joining Aerospace, Myers was sector vice president of Programs for the Mission Systems sector of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NG), where he was responsible for ensuring alignment between staff, processes, tools, training and metrics for strong program outcomes across the sector. Myers was a member of NG’s corporate operations council with the mission to apply best-in-class innovation practices, foster ingenuity and extend capability across the enterprise to drive execution excellence. Before that, Myers was vice president of Enterprise Initiatives for NG, where he created partnerships with other enterprises in the commercial applications of the company’s technologies. He also previously served as sector vice president of Global Operations for NG’s former Information Systems sector, where he oversaw sector operations, program management, and global business infrastructure, and led the development and deployment of the sector’s product line management, product road-mapping, and select value creation initiatives.
Prior to leading Global Operations, Myers served as sector vice president and general manager for three of NG’s divisions – Cyber Solutions, Civil Systems, and Navigation Systems – ranging in annual sales from $800M to $2B. Prior to that, Myers was sector vice president, Payloads and Sensors, and also vice president for Satellite Communications for the Space Technology sector, now part of the Space Systems sector. Before that, Myers served as vice president, Strategic Development, TRW. Previous positions also included management roles at Loral Space and Communications, United Technologies Corporation, and Microsoft Corporation.
Education
Myers earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Stanford University and a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis on finance and strategic planning from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
Affiliations
Myers is a member of the faculty at The Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He is also a mentor for American Corporate Partners (ACP), providing mentoring services to veterans retiring from military service and seeking industry employment. He is a former member of the Northrop Grumman Investment Committee (2011-2016), was a member and chair of the MATHCOUNTS Foundation board of directors, and has served on the advisory boards of organizations including TransUnion Corporation, VEX Robotics, and the Air Force Association’s Cyber Patriot.
